Elk River City Council
Lori Johnson, City Administrator
City of Elk River
13065 Orono Road
Elk River, Minnesota 55330
Dear Mayor Klinzing, Members of the City Council and Ms. Johnson:
This letter is to request release of the Elk River Area Arts Alliance funding in the amount of$15,000 that
was approved for 2007.
Plans for ArtSoup 2007 are well underway under the capable leadership of our new Festival Director
Laura Fryberger. ArtSoup will be located in the Historic Handke Stadium on the weekend of June 23rd &
24th 2007.
The reception for the Arts in Harmony National Juried Art Show is February 11, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at the
Sherburne County Government Center. This year there were 579 entries, only 274 of which were
accepted into the show.
Just last week the ERAAA Performance Series featured "Buckets and Tap Shoes" a dance presentation
that was awarded Best Dance Performance by City Pages. The theater was nearly full and the audience
was thrilled by this electric performance. The George Mauer jazz ensemble is coming in March.
January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. the ERAAA is cosponsoring with the Sherburne History Center an Artist Talk
on ''The Looting of the Iraq National Museum, a Curator's Perspective" by Cori Wegener of the
Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The presentation will be at the History Center.
In addition, we continue to offer, in partnership with Community Education, year-round arts classes
through ArtScape, including Strings F or Youth.
As always, thank you for your support. It is so vital to the programs that the ERAAA offers.
Sincerely,
Elk River Area Arts Alliance
