Introduction
Minnesota Statute requires each city designate a Data Practices Compliance Official.
Discussion
The Data Practices Compliance Official is the designated employee to whom persons may direct
questions or concerns regarding problems in obtaining access to data or other data practices problems.
Former City Clerk Joan Schmidt was the Compliance Official for Elk River. The city needs to appoint
someone else to be the data practices compliance official and Lori Johnson, the Data Practices
Responsible Authority, recommends that the position of City Clerk be appointed as the Compliance
Official.
