Introduction
According to Minnesota Statute 424A.04, a volunteer fIre relief association must have three municipal
trustees on the board. The three municipal trustees must be one elected official, and one elected or
appointed offIcial, and the chief of the Fire Department.
Discussion
Currendy Mayor Klinzing and Lori Johnson serve as municipal board trustees. Past city practice has been
that the city's fmance director has served as a municipal trustee on the board. Now that Lori has moved
out of the fInance director role and into the city administrator role, and with the hiring of Tim Simon as
fInance director, it is recommended that Tim be appointed as a municipal trustee.
