SUBJECT: CITIZEN REQUEST TO RESURFACE
EDISON STREET
Edison Street is an old Township Road that has been discussed at the Capital
Improvement sessions for the past four years or more. Below I have laid out
the estimated costs to apply a 2" bituminous overlay. and 2' wide Class 5
shoulders.

Not a great deal of research was done to pinpoint the number of assessable
properties, but on my map it appears that there may be 16 or 17 properties
and as nearly as I can tell, the signed letter represents 14 owners. The cost
estimates that I used to calculate the overlay and shouldering were averages
of recently bid projects of similar size.
The City Council discussed an assessment of $1,500 per lot in the Greenhead
II and Peterson Addition plats earlier this year. If that type of assessment
were applied here, the remaining monies could come from street reserves.
The General fund contains $25,000 per year for bituminous overlays
throughout the entire City.
