1. Council motion to call a special meeting with the Elk River Area School Board to discuss items
of interest to both parties.
2. Council motion acknowledging to the public that a quorum of the Council and the EDA may be
attending a tour of the Target Data Center but no city business will be discussed or conducted.
Background/Discussion
Joint Meeting with Schoo! Board
The Council and the School Board have requested this joint meeting in order to discuss items of mutual
interest.
Target Data Center Tonr
A quorum of the Council and EDA may be present for a tour of the Target Data Center but they will not
be convening any meetings and no action will be taken. There should be no discussion of city business by
the attending members at the tour as it could be seen as a violation of the open meeting law.

SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL AND THE ELK RIVER AREA SCHOOL BOARD

I, Stephanie Klinzing, Mayor, hereby request a special meeting of the Elk River City
Council in order to meet with the Elk River Area School Board on Monday, May 14, 2007,
6:00 p.m., at Elk River City Hall, 13065 Orono Parkway, Elk River, Minnesota.
The purpose of the meeting is to meet jointly with the School Board to discuss items of
interest to both parties.
In accordance with State Statute, I hereby request the city clerk to post this notice at least
three days prior to the meeting date. I further request the city clerk to notify each member of
the City Council of this special meeting, in writing, at least one day before the meeting.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Elk River City Council and Economic Development
Authority will be attending a tOut of the Target Data Center on May 21, 2007, at 4:30 p.m., at the
Target Data Center, 14100 Business Center Drive, Elk River, Minnesota. A quorum of the Elk River
City Council and Economic Development Authority members may attend the tour; however, they
will not convene any meeting, and no action will be taken by the City Council or Economic
Development Authority during the tout.
