RE: ORONO PARKWA Y/JOPLlN AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS
Dear Mr. Granlund:
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me last evening regarding the street
improvements and their effect on the Sherburne County Fairgrounds property. As you
requested, I have enclosed with this letter plan sheets from the Western Area Phase II
improvement projects which show the reconstruction of Orono Parkway along the south
border of the fairgrounds and Joplin Avenue along the west border of the fairgrounds. I
have also enclosed the cross-sections for these two segments of roadway.
Based upon our discussion last evening, we will make provisions for the following items in
our improvement project:
.
A 48-foot wide driveway opening on Orono Parkway immediately across from the
Hudson Street access to Country Crossings 1st Addition.
Two similar sized accesses to Joplin Avenue. The plans will indicate one toward the
northern portion of the fairgrounds and one toward the southern portion of the
fairgrounds. These two openings will be located exactly in the field during
construction.
The fence surrounding the 1.3 acres of property purchased by the City will be
removed and salvaged sometime this fall. We will attempt to coordinate the grading
and staking of the northerly boundary of the 1.3 acre parcel so that you may facilitate
the reinstallation of the fence yet this calendar year.
We will extend a 24-inch diameter concrete pipe with a catchbasin at the approximate
location of the gate in the fence heading toward the horse corral area. This is the
area that we walked through and discussed drainage last evening. We will also work
with you as needed to do minor grading and/or minor filling in this location to get
runoff to the point that the catchbasin is located. The actual location of the
catchbasin can be set in the field during construction.

I understand from our discussion last night that you may also request the County to act on
the storm sewer pipe to drain the parking area adjacent to the ballfields; At this point, this
is not part of the improvement project but certainly could be added by change order if
requested by Sherburne County.
Once again, thanks for your time to review these items with me. We look forward to
working with you during the construction of these improvements.
Sincerely,
