Council direction on filling vacancy for Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC).
Background/Discussion
On April 2, 2007 the Council interviewed applicants for HPC terms that expired February 28, 2007 and
re-appointed two existing members: Kurt Kragness and Matthew Christiaansen.
Staff is looking for Council direction on whether to re-advertise for the vacancy or to contact the
applicant to see if they would be interested in filling the vacancy on the Commission.

Due to increasing responsibilities and obligations, I will be resigning from the
HPC effective May 22, 2007. My term was set to expire in February 2008
and I did not intend to seek reappointment.
Thank you for the opportunities that this Commission has provided. I will
always believe in its worthy mission to enhance the awareness of our rich
history in Elk River.
