Library Board Minutes
May 22, 2007
Mick Stoffers, Karen Stelk, Ann Schroeder, John Dietz, Mike Hangaard, Joan Allen
from GRRL and Bill Maertz from the City were in attendance.
We toured the new library first, and then started the meeting at 6:50pm.
No definite timeframe for moving yet and we also need specifics from the moving
company as to what exactly they will do. Both issues are time sensitive and Bill is to
obtain the information and give to Mick.
Grand Opening:
Mick contacted various Authors and there is one in particular that would fit well.
Will Weaver is from Brainerd and there is a movie coming out 'Sweetland" based on
one of his books. Bill is going to look into showing that movie through the city this
summer prior to Grand Opening. Heidi Hucks, President of the Library Association
will be attending the Grand Opening. Talked about having the MN Zoo come, so we
have something for everyone. Possible giveaways are magnets with hours, phone #,
etc. It was mentioned maybe Bill Hudson would be available to MC the event. A
tentative date for Grand Opening was discussed as being the 2nd weekend of Oct.
Joan said GRRL will approve the budget in July for additional open hours of
operation.
A motion and second was made to adopt the agenda, treasurer's report and April
minutes.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:15pm, next meeting 6/26 at the Library.
