DATE:
SUBJECT: OCTOBER-DECEMBER MEETING
SCHEDULE
It was anticipated that a joint meeting with the Utilities would be held on
October 24, 1994. It is desirable that all three Commission members are
available for a joint meeting and, unfortunately, this 10/24 date does not
work out for all three members. Dates suggested by the Utilities Commission
include Thursday, November 10, after the Board of Canvass meeting, or
Monday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m. The EDA meeting that would typically
be held on 11/14 has been moved to Tuesday, 11/15. The number one choice
for the Utilities Commission is Monday, 11/14/94. Hopefully, all five
Councilmembers are available on both these nights and we can find a date to
. meet with the Utilities Commission.
Another meeting topic that should be scheduled by the City Council is the
budget worksession. Since Monday, 10/24 is now open, it may be appropriate
to use this date for a budget worksession. We still have a $112,500 budget
gap to resolve. It was hoped that we could have had our Utilities meeting
before a budget worksession in order to more accurately determine revenues,
but this now seems unlikely.
Other topics that need review by the City Council include the East Highway
10 feasibility study and the Surface Water Management Program. We may
want to review the East Highway 10 feasibility study during the joint
meeting with the Utilities, but if this is going to be a lengthy discussion, we
may should consider having just the City Council involved in the review of
this document. Also, there may not be a great urgency to review the East
Highway 10 document in October or November and this, conceivably, could
wait for a few months. Regarding the Surface Water Management Program
(SWM), it is anticipated that this issue will be reviewed in conjunction with
the budget worksession.
.
October 31 is the fifth Monday of October and is Halloween. A number of
Councilmembers indicated that they could not meet until at least 8:00 on
that evening. Meeting on the fifth Monday of the month would require a

special City Council meeting to be called by the Council. At this time it is
suggested that we not meet on 10/31/94.
Please bring your calendar to this City Council meeting in order to schedule
our meetings for the next few months. A tentative plan looks something like
the following:
10/24 -
10/31 -
11/7 -
11110 -
11/14 -
11/15 -
11/21 -
11/28 -
12/5 -
12/12 -
.
12/19 -
12/26 -
Mainly a budget and SWM worksession
No meeting (fifth Monday of the month)
Regular City Council meeting (day before elections)
Thursday special meeting for Board of Canvass and maybe
Utilities Commission joint meeting
Either no meeting or a special meeting with the Utilities
Commission
Tuesday EDA special meeting (rescheduled from 11/14 -
Monday)
Building/Zoning and Planning public hearing evening and
continued Western Area Phase II assessment public hearing
Regular City Council meeting
Regular City Council meeting - Municipal budget Truth in
Taxation public hearing
EDA meeting and continued City Council Truth in Taxation
budget public hearing
Building/Zoning and Planning public hearing evening
Christmas holiday - City offices are closed and hopefully there
will be no Council meetings this week.
Obviously, the one item missing from the above list is the East Highway 10
feasibility study discussion. This worksession topic should be scheduled by
the City Council.
