3.3. SR 06-18-2007 El1id River REQUEST FOR ACTION To City Council Agenda Section Consent Meeting Date June 18,2007 Item Description Approval of Continuation of Clean-up Week/Day Program and Approval of Fall Rates Item Number 3.3* Prepared by Nicki Blake-Bradley, Environmental Technician Reviewed by Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator Reviewed by Lori T ohnson, City Administrator Action Requested Staff is requesting that the City Council continue funding Clean-Up Weeks in the Spring and Fall along with the Clean-Up Day at the end of April. This is a very successful program that residents look forward to participating in each year. This year's Spring events experienced a significant increase in participation from Spring 2006. Staff expects that the reduced prices (as well as the beautiful weather on Saturday) kept participation brisk. As a result, staff is recommending that prices be maintained at the spring rates for the Fall Clean- Up Week (October 15'" -19'h) to be able to deliver the same level of service to the residents. Background/Discussion The following is a break down of the financials and materials collected from the City's Spring Clean-Up day held on the last Saturday in April (April 28'h) at the Public Works Department and Clean-Up Week (April 23 - 27) at the Elk River Landfill. These events served 395 households (105 during the week and 290 on Saturday).
