SUBJECT: Clerical Staff Pay Plan Adjustment
As noted at the last City Council meeting, it is requested that the City
Council consider a $.17 per hour increase for the employees that lost the
uniform allowance for 1995. This uniform allowance was deleted from the
1995 budget. If this $.17 per hour is approved, then we would adjust the pay
ranges for these employees and finance this expenditure with City Council
Contingency funds. The Senior Citizen Coordinator should be included in
this change as her wages are tied directly to some of our clerical staff.

At the last meeting, Councilmember Holmgren offered some history on how
and why this uniform allowance came into existence, so there is no need to
repeat that information in this memo. By offering an additional $.17 per
hour in wages the affected employees are not losing anything by this policy
change.
