Authorization to Advertise for Bids for Health Insurance for the
Period Beginning January 1, 2008
Action Requested
Authorize staff to advertise for bids for group health insurance for the contract year beginning January 1,
2008.
Background/Discussion
The city's group health insurance renews on January 1, 2008. Due to market trend increases in premiums
and discussions with our agent, we believe it is a good idea to solicit bids at this time.
The bid proposal will include medical and prescription coverage for the city's 121 eligible employees and
their families. Bids will be accepted until October 18th and a recommendation will be brought to Council
in November.
