Presentation by Rita Johnson
The Elk River Area Citizens League is a local organization whose purpose is to research
topics and to sponsor public fonus on issues that have social, political, or economic
impacts upon the community. In 1993, the City Council received a report (and a
presentation from a representative of the Citizens League) on the transportation network
study. Also, a number of years ago, the Citizens League sponsored a panel discussion on
the City topic of having the City Council go to a seven member body, with or without
wards.

The most recent topic that has been tackled by the Elk River Area Citizens League is the
effect of year round school on the family. Attached for your review is an October 10,
1994, report on this topic. Citizens League Representative Rita Johnson is scheduled to
be before the City Council on 1/23/95 in order to make a presentation on the findings of
this Citizens League study.
