SUBJECT: Purchase of used truck
During the 1995 budget process, we budgeted $15,000 for a cab, chassis, and equipment
to replace our 1958 jet machine truck. At this time, I am requesting authorization to
purchase one 1988 Ford cab and chassis from Glen's Truck Center in the amount of
$10,693. Having the frame shortened and water tank built will happen after we get the
truck. We will be doing the actual change over of the jet machine.

I have looked for other used trucks at Mankato Mack, St. Cloud Truck Sales, Custom
Motors, and Glen's Truck Center. What I have found is that those dealers don't have
what we need or the price is $15,000 to $25,000 on what they do have. This truck
happens to be a cab-over which makes it somewhat cheaper than a conventional truck. It
is more suitable for our needs, because of its overall length. A new truck of this type and
size would be approximately $32,000 depending on equipment options.
Recommendation
I am requesting authorization to purchase on 1988 Ford cab and chassis from Glen's
Truck Center in the amount of $10,693.
