SUBJECT: Used Truck Purchase
Weare in the process of selecting a used truck, but due to recent weather conditions, have
not had an opportunity to physically inspect the available units. It is my hope that by the
time of the meeting on January 23, I will have a tabulation to hand out and a
recommendation ready for Council action.
If this is not the case, I will request that this issue be withdrawn from the agenda.

SUBJECT: Purchase of Used Dump Truck
Members of the Street Department are continuing to search for used trucks that may be
available in the marketplace. At this point in time, we have located a unit in Wells,
Minnesota that is very interesting, but I have some concerns.
The truck is a 1987 Model that was traded in by a southern Minnesota County. The main
issue is cost. The asking price is $34,000 plus sales tax would bring the total to $36,250.
As the Council may remember, we had $20,000 left from the loader purchase. I would
suggest that we sell two of our stand~by trucks, which should generate approximately
$10,000, and use equipment reserve money to make up the difference.
. If this seems like a reasonable approach, I would ask the City Council to authorize the
advertisement for bids to be opened on February 10, 1995. There is always a chance that
this truck could be sold or another good one could come along, so we will continue to
look until the time that the bids are opened.
