Request authorization to promote Rodney Schreifels, Park Maintenance Worker to the Park Maintenance
Supervisor position.
Background/Discussion
Fox the past two years Rodney Schreifels has acted as the back up supervisor when the Park Maintenance
Supervisor was on vacation. Since the resignation of the former Park Maintenance Supervisor, Rodney
has served as the interim supervisor. Rodney is also the park maintenance representative on the safety
committee.
Rodney has an associate degree from St. Cloud Technical College and a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud
State. Rodney has received excellent performance reviews each year since his employment with the city.
The Maintenance Supervisor position is Grade 9 in the pay plan. Staff is recommending starting Mr.
Schreifels at grade level B, eligible for a step increase, pending a satisfactory performance review, in July,
2008. Due to his overtime from snowplowing etc. in 2007, this pay level is an equivalent annual pay to his
current position.
Financial Impact
Step 9, Grade level B annual salary is $57,599 for 2007. This promotion is budget neutral relative to the
previous supervisor's pay.
