RESOLUTION 95 - _
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE FILE #757
AND HOUSE FILE #750 (POW/MIA MEMORIAL HIGHWAY)
WHEREAS, Senate File #757 authored by Senator Don Samuelson,
District 12, and House File #750 authored by Representative
Kris Hasskamp, District 12A, propose legislation to honor
our Soldiers Missing in Action (MIA) and our Prisoners of
War (POW) by designating Highway 169 from Elk River to
Garrison and Highway 18 from Garrison to Brainerd as
"POW/MIA Memorial Highway"; and,
WHEREAS, this area would also be beautified through the volunteer
services of former Prisoners of War and their heirs under a
program augmented by the Minnesota Department of
Transportation to plant shrubs, trees, and flowers; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of road signs designating the route as a memorial
highway would be paid by the organization of American Ex
POW's.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Elk River City Council
supports Senate File #757 and House File #750.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 13th day
of March, 1995.
