SUBJECT: Consider Hiring Troy Langer as
Full-time Employee
Given the current status as a "temporary" position, Troy has been pursuing
full-time opportunities with other communities and most recently, has been
offered a position. He has not decided whether to accept the position or not,
however, this has raised the question sooner than expected of considering
Troy for the full-time position that has been budgeted for 1995.
Troy was hired as the planning intern on May 31, 1994. This position was
• originally programmed for a one year period. As part of the 1995 budget, this
position, or a similar position was budgeted through 1995. I believe the
intent was to eventually consider converting the intern position to a full-time
"planner" position.
Over the past 10 months Troy has performed very well, satisfying the
requirements as the planning intern. Troy has developed a good
understanding of the City's operating procedures, as well as a good sense for
the community. Based on this more than acceptable performance coupled
with his experience, I would be comfortable converting Troy's status to a full-
time position and changing his title accordingly.
Action Request
The City Council is asked to consider hiring Troy Langer as a full-time
employee effective June 1, 1995. The salary for this position can be based on
the starting range offered for the "planner"; or appropriately titled position.
