MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Pat Klaers, City Adm' istrator
#~
DATE: February 27, 1995
SUBJECT: State of the City Meeting Update
Jackie Schuelein, from the Chamber of Commerce, made a presentation to
the Council on 1/30/95 regarding the planned State of the City meeting. This
meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21, 1995. All Councilmembers are
scheduled to make a five minute presentation on a topic of their choice at this
meeting.
As we know from past experience, this date will quickly be upon us and we
• should give this Chamber meeting some discussion at this upcoming City
Council meeting. In this regard, Councilmembers should select a topic to
speak on at the Chamber meeting and make this topic known to other
members so that we do not have a duplication of the same topic being
presented by two or more speakers. Please give this issue some thought and
come to the Council meeting prepared to identify your topic of discussion for
the State of the City meeting.

In the past, the Chamber has hoste3 a "State of the Ciry" meeting every year. However, the last one was
in January 1993. With the growth and changes that have occurred since that time,. we know you'll have a
lot of information to share with us centering around economic development.
We would also celebrate Elk River's 10th anniversary as a Minnesota Star City and recent designation as
an All Star City.
