Item 5.10.
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Pat Klaers, City Administr
DATE: February 27, 1995
SUBJECT: Consider Meeting Date for Continued
CIP Worksession
At the 2/20/95 Council CIP Worksession, it was indicated that afollow-up
meeting would be needed to discuss two major topics. These two topics are
the East Highway 10 sewer and water feasibility study, and the City's
inventory of land. The tentative schedule for the City Council looks like the
following:
. March 6 - Fire Department Special Meeting -see attachment
Planning Commission Joint Meeting -see attachment
Regular Business -see attachment
March 13 - EDA Meeting at 5:00 p.m.
March 20 - Planning and Building Public Hearings
March 27 - Joint Meeting with School Board
Apri13 - Possible Joint Meeting Date with the County Board
April 10 - EDA Meeting
April 17 - Planning and Building Public Hearings
April 24 - Open
May 5 - Open
As noted above, it is hopeful that we will have a joint meeting with the
County Board on April 3. If this joint meeting does not materialize, Apri13
would be an appropriate date to continue our CIP Worksession. This would

• .allow staff adequate time to do some additional analysis of the East Highway
10 feasibility study so that the Council Worksession will be productive.
However, if this County Board meeting does happen on Apri13, then we will
need to look at another date for this continued CIP Worksession.
Additionally, the Council should note that at some time we need to schedule
a joint meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission. It may be
appropriate to have this joint meeting with the Commission early in the
evening when we have our CIP Worksession. This may make some sense as
almost all of the inventory of City land is dedicated toward park and
recreation purposes and I am sure that the Commission will be interested in
the Council's discussion on this topic.
Finally, the Council has agreed to have quarterly meetings with the Utilities
Commission. The quarterly meeting would fall in March, but since
Councilmember Dietz has just joined this organization, it may be all right to
skip this scheduled joint meeting. The next quarterly meeting date would be
in July.
• I have just been advised (5:00 Thursday) that the County Board cannot meet
with the City Council on Monday, Apri13, 1995. The meeting date requested
by the County Board is Tuesday, April 18, 1995. If this date works out for
the City Council, the County Board would meet with the City Council at 6:00
p.m., at the City Hall. This joint meeting would require that a special City
Council meeting be called. If this joint meeting date is set, Apri13 could be
scheduled for the continued CIP Worksession meeting.
I have just been advised (9:30 Friday) that the School Board cannot meet
with the City Council on Monday, March 27, 1995. However, the School
Board is available to meet with the City Council on Monday, Apri13.
Accordingly, the Council should consider having its CIP Worksession on
March 27, and scheduling the joint meeting with the School Board on
Monday, Apri13. It should be noted that Councilmember Farber will not be
available on March 27 for a CIP meeting.
