MEMORANDUM
TO: Planning Commissioners
FROM: Jeremy Barnhart, Planning Manager
DATE: June 21, 2007
SUBJECT: Workshop agenda
Included on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting are several proposed ordinances for
discussion, including a changeable copy sign ordinance, a berm ordinance, and a commercial
reserve ordinance.
Staff is presenting these for initial review and comment, a formal discussion and public input
is planned for July 10`''.
Regarding the berm ordinance, a concern was raised that berms could be built to hide or
otherwise bury cars and other refuse not appropriate for burial. The proposed text requires
a permit for a berm higher than 3 feet. With a permit, an inspection would be required.
For the Commercial Reserve Ordinance, it was noted in April that the Comprehensive Plan
outlines a Commercial Reserve area, but the Zoning Ordinance does not provide any
regulation. The proposed text gives some use options. The minimum lot size is 20 acres.
