Administrator Action Requested Staff requests City Council approval to fill the full-time liquor store clerk I position and approve the hiring of internal candidate Vickie Berg. Background/Discussion The 2008 budget for the Municipal Liquor Fund included a position fox afull-tune liquor store clerk. The original intention was to wait until July 1, 2008 to add the position, but due to an unusual amount of part-time clerk turnover (7 unfilled positions), Dave Potvin, Liquor Store Manager would like to move forward with filling the full-time liquor store clerk I position on approximately March 1, 2008. Dave has an internal candidate Vickie Bexg, who has been apart-time liquor store clerk since 1996, that he feels would be a great fit for the position. Financial Impact The wages and benefits for this position axe budgeted in the 2008 Municipal Liquor Fund. The additional cost of filling the position on March 1, 2008, will be reduced by the 7 unfilled positions, which can take one to two months to fill. In addition, the liquor stores will only be re-staffing six out of the seven unfilled positions. This position upon completion of the six month orientation period will be at pay grade 1, step E, which is an hourly rate of $16.99.
