Jackson Avenue/School Street Intersection Modifications
Some time ago, the City Council directed plans and specifications to be prepared for the
modifications to the Jackson Avenue/School Street intersection. These modifications
include adding left turn arrows to the southbound Jackson Avenue and westbound School
Street movements along with constructing aright-turn lane for the southbound Jackson
Avenue traffic. Proceeding with the project was put on hold until the street project Capital
Improvement Program for 2008-2012 could be discussed in its entirety. There exists a
$350,000 item fora 2008 improvement at this intersection in the CIP approved in December
2007. I am looking for direction from the City Council on how you would like to proceed
with this item. If you would like to proceed in this construction year, we should complete
the project plans and bring them back for authorization to bid so that construction activities
can happen during the summer months while school is not in session.
