Fire Protection System for Public Works
Item 4.4.
Terry Zajac, Lead Building Inspector for the City of Elk River, and I have been working with
Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent, in reference to the fzre protection system for the public
works building. Terry Zajac received quotations for the completion of the project and the
following quotes were submitted:
Brothers Fire Protection Company
Summit Fire Protection
$21,940
$30,800
Each of the bidders were supplied with the specifications for completion of the fire protection
system for the public works building. Terry Zajac and I have reviewed the quotations from
both Brothers Fire Protection and Summit Fire Protection and we agree the quotations will
complete the project as specified.
Phil Hals is applying for a safety grant through the Minnesota Department of Labor and
Industry for up to $10,000 towards the cost of the sprinkler system.
Action Requested
At this time, I am requesting Mayor and City Council approval for the quotation of Brothers
Fire Protection ($21,940) to complete the fire protection system for the public works building.
If the safety grant is received the cost to the city would decrease, depending on the amount of
grant money received. The funding source for this project is the streets reserve.

free to call Terry Zajac at 763-441-4901 or Bruce West at 763-441-4919 and we will answer
