RE: PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING WATERMAIN EXTENSION
Dear Council Members:
We have tabulated the bids opened on Tuesday, August 6, 2002, for the watermain extension to the
Public Works Building that will facilitate spdnklering of the building. There were a total of five bids.
The following list provides the name of the bidder and the total bid, and a detailed bid tabulation is
also attached:
MP Nexlevel, LLC
Harwood Trenching
Earth Burners, Inc.
Riley Brothers Utility
MinnComm Utility
$48,658.65
49,713.00
49,887.50
53,591.50
60,125.00
This project calls for watermain to be directionally bored from Triangle Road in the Elk River Industrial
Park to the Public Works facility. Directional boring is typically a subcontractor's work on most
projects undertaken in the City, so we have not previously worked directly with MP Nexlevel, LLC.
However, we have checked references on their work and have received good comments back relative
to the quality of their workmanship. Therefore, we would recommend award to them as the lowest
responsible bidder in the amount of $48,658.65. Attached is a resolution for the City Council's
consideration, which would award the project to MP Nexlevel, LLC.
If you have any questions regarding this project, I will be in attendance at your August 19, 2002, City
Council meeting.
Sincerely,
Howard R. Green Company
