175TM AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS
WATERMAIN ALTERNATE BID
Dear Council Members:
The Elk River Municipal Utilities at their meeting on Tuesday, August 20, 2002, agreed to fund the
construction of the watermain along 175th Avenue from Tyler Street to the Park Pointe Addition. I
believe the understanding is that the Elk River Municipal Utilities will fund the lateral portion of the
watermain, with the City of Elk River funding the trunk over-sizing of the water construction. In the
future, as adjacent properties develop and/or connect to the watermain, the Elk River Municipal
Utilities will be given the lateral assessments to offset their investment in the watermain. The City will
receive the trunk portion of the assessments to repay their investment.
Attached for your consideration is a resolution, which awards the alternate bid for trunk watermain
construction along 175th Avenue to S. R. VVeidema, Inc., the contractor for the project.

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING SCHEDULE 2.0 ALTERNATE FOR TRUNK
WATERMAIN BID AND AUTHORIZING ADDING TO THE CONTRACT IN THE
MATTER OF THE 175TM AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS OF 2002
WHEREAS
pursuant to a City Council direction, competitive bids were solicited and received
for the 175th Avenue Improvements, including and alternate bid for trunk
watermain; and
WHEREAS
the City Council by adopting Resolution 02-76 on August 12, 2002, has awarded
the contract for 175th Avenue Improvements to S. R. VVeidema, Inc.; and
WHEREAS
the Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission voted on August 20, 2002, to
proceed with the alternate bid for trunk watermain on 175th Avenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota:
1.
The Mayor and City Administrator are authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of
the City, such contract with S. R. Weidema, Inc., as is approved by the City Attorney, for
the addition of Schedule 2.0 Alternate for Trunk Watermain to the 175th Avenue
Improvements contract according to the approved plans and specifications designated
by City Council Resolution.
