MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: Mayor and City Council Michele McPherso ,~Director of Planning DATE: April 22, 2002 SUBJECT: Comprehensive Plan Membership and Meeting Schedule Update Staff has, with the assistance from the City's commissions, established the Comprehensive Plan Update Task Force. The primary members of the Task Force are as follows: Dick Gruys, resident Ron Halpaus, resident Daryl Thompson, Riverside Development Company Jim Stanley, Chamber of Commerce Cliff Lundberg, River's Edge Downtown Business Association Dan Tveite, Elk River City Council Jeff Gongoll and Pat Dwyer, Economic Development Authority Doug Franz, Planning Commission John Kuester, Park and Recreation Commission Larry Toth, Housing and Redevelopment Authority Kurt Kragness, Heritage Preservation Commission In addition to the members of the Comprehensive Plan Task Force, Hoisington Koegler Group Inc. (I-[KGi) will be interviewing the following members of the community at large: Kendra Lindahl, resident Rita Johnson, resident Pat Rasmussen, resident Sherry Emerson, Guardian Angels Mary Jo Swanson, Director, School Board Sara Mitchell, Director, School Board Mary Eberly, First National Insurance Agency Trisha Mowry, Metalcraft Machine and Engineering Tony Darkenwald, Elk River Arts Alliance Trish Greeve, Reverend, Union Church Wanda Copeland, Reverend, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Memo to the I~layor and City Council/Comprehensive Plan Update April 22, 2002 Page 2 We have established the following schedule of events for the next several months: April 30~h 8:30 a.m. May 2nd 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 16th 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 30th 6:30-8:30 pm. June 6~ 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 27th 6:30-8:30 p.m. August 1st 6:30-8:30 p.m. Meet with Department Heads Task Force Meeting #1 - Lions Park Center Public Meeting #1 - Central Lutheran Church Task Force Meeting #2 - Lions Park Center Public Meeting #2 - Lions Park Center Task Force Meeting #3 - Lions Park Center Task Force Meeting #4 - Lions Park Center All Task Force meetings are public the public is invited to attend. However, they may have limited participation with the Task Force during these meetings. Staff of HKGi will facilitate any interaction the public may have with the Task Force. A tour of the community has yet to be scheduled for the members of the Task Force and staff of HKGi. Approximately three weeks ago Elk River Star News Editor Jim Boyle interviewed me for an article regarding the Comprehensive Plan update. It is anticipated that this article will appear in the April 24 TM edition of the newspaper. If we get additional resident volunteers for the Task Force from this article, we will bring those volunteers forward to the City Council for addition to the Task Force. We are working closely with HKGi to communicate to the community the activities during the Comprehensive Plan Update. An article will be included in the next issue of the Current, slated to be delivered May 1, 2002, and a section will be added tothe C~ty' 's webs~te' for th~s' issue.
