Appointment of Library Board Member
Appointment to Library Board for a one-year tenn.
APPLICANT
Jennifer Sharp - 18544 145~ St. NW, Elk River, MN (Big Lake Township)
BACKGROUND
The City has been actively advertising and seeking a Library Board candidate to replace the
vacancy created by Joann Jacobs who resigned a few months ago. The City has received only
one application. The application received is from Jennifer Sharp and is attached for Council
review.
Jennifer Sharp lives just across the Elk River border in Big Lake Township. Regarding
Jennifer's residence outside of Elk River, State Law states the following:
"If the d~y library is a branch or a member of a regionalpublic library (ystem, the mayor, mith the approval
of the dry coundl, may appoint to the d~y library board, residents of the coun(y provided the county is
pattidpating in the regionalpublic library (ystem and that the majority of the members of the d(y library
board are residents of the d~y."
Currently, the four Library Board members are all residents of the City.
