Authorization to purchase Squad Cars
This is to inform the city council that I have received quotes for the purchase of 2003 squad
cars. I received a quote from Elk River Ford. Saxon Motors did not submit a quote. The
second quote was from the State Contract from Superior Ford.
Elk River Ford submitted a quote of $22,143.27 for the purchase of a 2003 Ford Crown
Victoria. Superior Ford quoted a bid from the State Contract for a 2003 Ford Crown
Victoria of $22,093.00. The bid from Elk River Ford was $50.27 more per squad car.
As in previous years, I recommend accepting the local dealership (Elk River Ford) quote of
$22,143.37. The request is to purchase four (4) 2003 Ford Crown Victorias. If the city
council chooses not to authorize the truck enforcement position, I will be requesting
authorization to purchase a fifth squad car.

Dear Chief Zerwas,
Thank you for the opportunity to bid on four new City Patrol Cars. Our bid is for four
identical 2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor sedans. These vehicles include all
standard equipment as advertised and optional equipment as specified by your bid
request.
Our price for each car is $22,143.27. State title and registration costs are extra. No state
sales tax is charged for marked emergency vehicles.
As a separate option, the 68P Complete Police Prep Package is available at a cost of
$1120.00. Package detail is available upon request.
