7.1. SR 4-15-2002 Howard R, Green Company Item 7.1. Apdl 8, 2002 File: 808205J-0060 Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Elk River 13065 Orono Parkway P.O. Box 490 Elk River, MN 55330-0490 RE: MAIN STREET LEFT TURN LANE EXTENSION Dear Council Members: As directed previously, we have prepared plans and received quotes for the extension of the left turn lane on Main Street for the northbound movement onto old CSAH 13. There were a total of three quotes received. The following list provides the name of the bidder and the total bid: Northwest Asphalt, Inc. Bauerly Companies North Valley, Inc. $26,827.OO $29,319.00 $32,745.75 All three of these companies have previously successfully completed projects in the City of Elk River. We had previously estimated the construction cost to be about $25,000.00. Northwest Asphalt is slightly over this estimate at $26,827.00. If the City Council is reasonably certain that the connection of old CSAH 13 at the north end to Tyler Street will remain intact for some period of time, we would recommend proceeding with the extension of this left turn lane and would recommend award of this contract to Northwest Asphalt, Inc., in the amount of $26,827.00. Attached is a resolution for the City Council's consideration which awards the bid to Northwest Asphalt. If you have any questions regarding this project, I will be in attendance at your April 15, 2002, City Council meeting. Sincerely, Howard R.
