Subject: Snowmobile accident
To Mayor Klinzing:
This is an article from the news last night, it hit's too close to home and is why we are pressing so
hard to ban the snowmobiles in Elk River in the populated residential area's. As this teenager and
the parents of Ryan will agree, things happen way too fast on these machines to allow them
inside the city.
Thank you for listening to my and the other residents persistent speeches, but this subject comes
deep from the heart.

P.S. My youngest son whom I referred to as loving to sled in my yard is also 2 years old and
named Ryan! Now imagine these doing 45 mph through my yard.
CHISAGO CITY, Minn. -- Police in Chisago City said that a 2-year-old boy is dead after being
hit by a snowmobile Monday night at a city park.
Police said that the 17-year-old snowmobile driver was taken into custody after leaving the
scene. He is expected to be charged Wednesday.
The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. near a sledding hill, which is off limits to snowmobiles.
A sign at the edge of the park reads "No Snowmobiling."
The toddler, Ryan Anderson, and his father were at the bottom of the hill. The boy's mother and
two sisters were on top of the hill.
Witnesses said that a snowmobile came over the hill at about 30 to 60 mph and struck the boy in
the head.
"From the statements made by the driver, he believed that he had hit something," Chisago City
Police Chief Bill Schlumbohm said. "He stated he didn't know if it was a dog, debris or a person.
But he didn't stop and continued on."
Schlumbohm said that the driver's passenger, 16-year-old girl, told the driver that he had struck
someone.
"She wanted to go back and see, but the driver refused to do that," Schlumbohm said.
The toddler was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis early
