TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Mayor tad City Council Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent January 3, 2001 Mower Purchases At thc August 7, 2000 budget session, the City Council agreed to purchase a zero turn turf mower for $8,500 and a roadside boom mower attachment for our front end loader for $41,000 arsd not have these items included in the 2001 budget. The Street and Park Department did demos and received quotes for this equipment in December. We tested six different models of zero turn lawn mowers and would like to purchase thc Cub Cadet from Welters, Inc. of St. Michael. The Cub Cadet is a well-built machine with the lowest purchase price. I also suggest the purchase of the factory installed bagger unit for a price of $8,098 plus sales tax of $526.37 or a total of $8,624.37. Roadside boom mowers are available from three different manufi~turers. The only unit that can he supplied to us ready to attach to our loader is built by Diamond Mowers, Inc. and supplied by Doyle Equipment Company ·fLak·viii·. The complete Diamond Mower package including the diesel power unit, remote controls and loader mount comes to $42,000 plus $2,730 sales tax. Action Reauested City Council authorize the immediate purchase ·fa Cub Cadet model 2560 with bagging system from Welters, Inc. of St. Michael for $8,624.37 including sales tax. In addition, City Council to authorize the purchase ·fa 20' 6" Diamond Boom mower from Doyle Equipment Co. for $44,730 on March 1, 2001 with deliv~ by May 15, 2001.
