Subject: AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR
POLICE OFFICER
This is to inform the city council that two (2) of our police officers
have been offered peace officer positions with other agencies. One (1)
position is with the Department of Natural Resources and the other is
with the Minnesota State Patrol. Both offers are contingent on their
passing the rest of the selection process.
I am, therefore, requesting authorization to advertise for the position
of police officer. Authorization to advertise for the position would
make it possible for us to hire a new officer in three (3) to four (4)
months. If both officers do in fact leave, we will be short handed for
most of the summer vacation season.
