Council approval to begin the hiring process fox police officer.
Background/Discussion
The police department received approval in the 2008 budget to hire a police officer. Because of budget
concerns, it was agreed that we would wait and fill this position after April of this year. If permission is
given, the hiring process could begin in late April with oral interviews, background medical and
psychological exams. It is anticipated that a request fox approval to hire would be presented to the
Council in mid to late May.
Financial Impact
'this is a budgeted position. Delaying the hiring has provided a savings of almost five months pay plus
benefit costs fox this start-up position.
