SUBJECT: Call a Special Meeting for 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 200 I,
in the Training Room
As discussed at the February 26, 2001 meeting, I would like to have the City Council meet at
5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, rather than the regular time of 6:00 p.m. The reason for
this request is that Rusty Fifield, from Ehlers, needs two hours for our first meeting in the
Key FinandalStrategies process. This earlier than normal meeting time will allow Rusty to
complete his work with the City Council so that the School Board can join the City Council
at 7:00 p.m. for a joint meeting on topics of mutual interest. The meeting at 5:00 p.m. will be
in the Training Room and sandwiches will be provided.
This 5:00 p.m. meeting conflicts with the 5:00 p.m. HRA meeting. The main topic of the
HRA meeting is sidewalks. Sidewalks will also be reviewed with the City Council on March
19, so HRA and Councilmember Motin should be adequately updated on the topic. This
should allow him to skip the HRA meeting in order to attend the City Council meeting. The
other main topic for the HRA meeting is an update on the status for the downtown
redevelopment plan. Paul and Economic Development Director, Cathy Mehelich, can meet
individually most anytime (or over the phone) to review this agenda topic.
Action Requested
It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion calling for a Special Meeting on
Monday, March 26, 2001, to begin at 500 p.m. in the Training Room
