SUBJECT: D.A.R.E. Secondary Officer Update
The very successful D.A.R.E. house project was completed two years ago.
This project raised monies to finance a D.A.R.E. Officer for the secondary
grades. The funding for this officer/program will be depleted at the end of
calendar year 1995.
Neither the City nor the School District has had this position in its budget.
Continued support of this program would necessitate a new expenditure for
both the City and the School District. The School District is not on a
calendar year fiscal year and will be considering its 1995-96 budget in the
near future. The City will be reviewing its proposed maximum budget in
• August. Both governmental agencies will have to consider funding of this
position during the review of their budgets.
The Chief of Police will be at this joint meeting to answer questions about
this program.
