SUBJECT: New Fire Fighters -The Addition of New Fire
Fighters to the Elk River Fire Department
As you are aware in prior memo, the Elk River Fire Department has engaged in the
process of hiring new fire fighters for the department. The selection process has now been
completed and due to the retirement of Chuck Oscarson effective 4-1-95, we will be
adding three new fire fighters to the fire department.
The fire fighters will be notified of their selection on Tuesday, Apri14, 1995. The Elk
River Fire Department has been operating at 33 members, when the by-laws of the Elk
• River Fire Department state the membership could be at 35. The selection ofnew
members was put on hold until the process of selecting a new Chief was completed. The
selection process started with fourteen applicants, of which nine were interviewed for the
fire fighter positions. The three candidates that are being selected for the fire fighter
openings are:
• Richard Gearhart
• Jeremy Collins
• Keith Thorson
After successful completion of fire fighters physicals the new fire fighter candidates will
begin employment with the City of Elk River as paid on-call fire fighters. If you have any
