SUBJECT: Maintenance Agreement for Bridge
86515
The attached maintenance agreement for bridge 86515 is renewed on
a yearly basis. The agreement is between Wright County and the
City of Elk River and involves the bridge over the Mississippi River
abutting Main Street and Parish Avenue.
As indicated in the maintenance agreement, the City is responsible
for the following duties:
1. Maintenance of street lights;
2. removal of snow from sidewalk;
3. maintenance of slopes/berms and roadway on north approach;
4. periodic sweeping to remove sand and debris and removing dirt
from expansion joints;
5. removal of markings/spray paint etc. from visible surfaces of
bridge structure.
Wright County is responsible for the following duties:
1. Snow and ice control from bridge and approaches;
2. signing for bridge and approaches
3. maintenance of slopes/berms and roadway on south approach
4. centerline and edge pavement marking
Action Requested:
Motion to enter into the maintenance agreement for Bridge #86515
with Wright County.

MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT (1996-1997)
THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into by and between the City of Elk River hereinafter referred to as
the "City" and the County of Wright hereinafter referred to as the "County".
WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of all parties that the duties and responsibilities of both the City and
'he County as to maintenance on Bridge #86515 and its approaches should be clearly defined.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED with regard to said structure maintenance:
MAINTENANCE
CITY RESPONSIBLE FOR: (1) Maintenance of street lights;
(2) Removal of snow from sidewalk;
(3) Maintenance of slopes/berms and roadway on north approach (includes: turf maintenance, bituminous
maintenance, drainage and riprap maintenance);
(4) Periodic sweeping to remove sand and debris and removing sand/dirt from expansion joints;
(5) Removal of markings/spray paint etc. from visible surfaces of bridge structure.
COUNTY RESPONSIBLE FOR: (1) Snow and ice control from bridge and approaches;
(2) Signing for bridge and approaches;
(3) Maintenance of slopes/berms and roadway on south approach (includes: turf maintenance, bituminous
maintenance, drainage and riprap maintenance);
(4) Centerline and edge pavement marking (includes stop bar).
The agreement between the City and County shall be for a two year period and run from January 1, 1996 to
December 31, 1997. All maintenance responsibilities will be deemed "offsetting" therefore no payments will be required
for the individual maintenance work which conforms to the areas stated herein and performed under authorization of either
the City or County.
In the event that the structure needs major maintenance/rehabilitation an agreement detailing the work and shared
costs must be approved and accepted by the City and County.
