SUBJECT: Code Enforcement Update
Attached is a copy of the 1995 ordinance complaints. Staff compiled this list of
all complaints received regarding ordinance violations or possible ordinance
violations. In no case did city staff seek out these complaints. In each case a
resident called to complain about the situation and staff followed up on the
complaint.
We have received 78 complaints as of December 29, 1995. Of those:
· 2 were non-city issues
· 8 were found not to be in violation of the city ordinance
· 52 have been resolved
· 16 are still on-going
Of the 16 still on-going:
· Two have applied for conditional use permits, but they have not yet been
decided by the council,
· Two of the cases involve landscaping additions and, because of the seasonal
difficulties, staff has given them until June 1, 1996 to comply
· A few are relatively new cases and must be given time to comply
· And a few of the cases are older cases unlikely to be resolved quickly or
without pursuing legal options
For your information I have enclosed a thank you letter dated December 5, 1995.
If you will recall, two lots in Deerfield 3rd were found to have tree stumps buried
throughout, and these residents found out about the problem when they decided
to put a swimming pool in their backyard. The residents wanted to thank Steve
Rohlf for all his assistance in working with them to resolve the problem.
Recommendation
No Council action is required on this item.
