January 4, 1996
Out-of-State Conference
On March 4th through 8th, 1996, the Colorado Chapter Educational Institute
will be hosting a continuing education conference. This conference will be
held in Denver, Colorado at the Marriott Denver Technological Center. This
conference will assist me in maintaining my certifications as a State Certified
Building Official and International Conference of Building Officials-certified
as Building Inspector and Plans Examiner, as well as the expansion of my
knowledge through the classes I have chosen. Provided for you, with this
memo, is a copy of the outline of this conference. As you review this
information, please note the large selection of course work material provided
with this conference. The classes that I have chosen will be:
· Soils, Properties, Identification and Foundation Design;
· Fire Resistive Construction;
· Roofing;
· Building Classifications;
· Ductwork and Fire Dampers.
This wide variety of hands-on classroom activity will assist me as Building
Official for the City of Elk River, as did the past classes I have taken in
Madison, WI.
Therefore, at this time, I am asking the City Council for approval to attend
this conference. The cost will be approximately $1,500. This amount was an
approved budget item for this year under out of state conferences. If you
need any further information, feel free to contact me.
