Consider approval of an increase in fees to Gray, Plant, i~Ioocy fox legal services effective January 1, 2009,
as follows:
Hourly rate From $135 to 5175
Monthly retainer from 52,500 to $3,250
Background/Discussion
.1s we discussed during the budget worksession on Monday, City Attorney Peter Beck has not requested
an increase in his fees since 1996. l~i'e are requesting an increase in fees as noted above to retain NG.
Beck's- services and ny to encourage other attorneys at Grav, Plant, Mooty to assist in providing backup
to the City Attorney. The rate Gray, Plant, IVloory charges to the City is approximately ~0 percent of the
normal billable rate they charge to other clients.
Financial Impact
1'he 2009 budget includes funds to coves this increase.
