The City Council is asked to consider initiating certain ordinance
amendments which are necessary to facilitate rezoning requests and address
residential, commercial and industrial development within the urban service
district.
Overview
On Saturday, January 27th, the City Planner met with the Planning
Commission to discuss certain ordinance amendments and rezonings for
those areas that have recently been included as part of the urban service
district. Based on the Planning Commission's discussion on this issue, a list
of ordinance amendments have been prepared that will need to be submitted
to the Planning Commission and City Council for consideration.
In summary, the ordinance amendments will address certain sections of the
ordinance to effectively address development within the urban service district
both with and without city services. For example, certain minimum lot sizes
will be established in the residential zones when water and sewer is not
available, and a lot size when sewer and water is available. The Council will
also be presented with the issue of commercial and industrial development in
the urban service district.
Staff will be available at Monday night's meeting to further address this
issue and answer any questions.
Action Requested
The City Council is requested to consider initiating certain ordinance
amendments and direct staff to prepare the appropriate applications and
schedule a public hearing for the Planning Commission and City Council.
