Call Special City Council Meetings
Two special City Council meetings have been discussed, but not officially
called. These two meetings need to be called by motion or through the
consent agenda process.
The first meeting is the February 19, 1996, City Council Capital
Improvement Program meeting. We generally call this meeting a workshop,
but it is an official meeting and official City Council action can take place
through the approval of motions and the adoption of resolutions or
ordinances. February 19 is a holiday and the main topic of the meeting will
be capital improvement items. If appropriate, the Council can call this
meeting for 5 p.m. in order to adjourn the meeting at a reasonable time. If
we meet at 5 p.m., we tend to order sandwiches for the Council and staff who
are in attendance.
The second meeting that needs to be called so that public hearing notices can
be published is the Tuesday, March 12, 1996, special meeting to consider the
transportation and Park Master Plan components of the Comprehensive
Plan. The Planning Commission is scheduled to review these issues and
make a recommendation to the City Council on February 15 and February 22
if necessary. As this is the only agenda item anticipated for this meeting, it
is appropriate to have this public hearing and meeting begin at 7 p.m.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council call a special meeting for Monday,
February 19, 1996, at 5 p.m. at City Hall to discuss general city business and
capital improvements.
It is recommended that the City Council call a special meeting for Tuesday,
March 12, 1996, at 7 p.m. at Elk River City Hall in order to consider general
city business and to hold a public hearing on the transportation and park
sections of the Comprehensive Plan.
