WHEREAS, The Bank of Elk River has served the community of Elk River since its
founding in 1885; and
WHEREAS, The Bank of Elk River is the oldest bank in Sherburne County; and
WHEREAS, The Bank of Elk River has maintained a tradition of family management
since its founding for more than 120 years when bank founder Willard
Babcock opened the bank; and
WHEREAS, Edmund Babcock, fourth generation family member, became a member of
the Bank of Elk River Board of Directors in 1974, and was elected Chairman
of the Board in 1979; and
WHEREAS, Edmund Babcock is retiring after providing service for 34 years to The Bank
of Elk River and the community; and
WHEREAS, The Bank of Elk River, under the leadership of Edmund Babcock, is a
valuable community corporation and business partner to the City of Elk
River;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, as Mayor of the City of Elk River, I do
hereby proclaim June 24, 2008 as Edmund Babcock Day in Elk River.
