KESOLUTION NO. 96- 37
A KESOLUTION AUTHOKIZING EARLY ACQUISITION
OF INDMDUAL TRACTS PRIOR TO THE APPROVAL
OF A REDEVELOPMENT PLAN AND PROIECT
The City Council of the City of Elk River (the "City"), acting pursuant to its authority in
Minn. Stat. § 469.028, hereby finds, determines and resolves as follows:
WHEREAS,
the City of Elk River Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) has the
opportunity to acquire individual tracts of real property located in the vicinity
of King and Mare Street: and
WHEREAS, the HRA and the City Council has yet to prepare and approve a redevelopment
plan and project as provided in Minn. Stat. § 469.028, SuM. 2; and
WHEREAS, the HRA has determined the location of a proposed redevelopment project to
be implemented in the vicinity of King and Main Street; and
WHEREAS,
Minn, Stat. 469.028, SuM. 5 authorizes the early acquisition of individual
tracts of real property prior to the approval of a redevelopment plan and
projects; and
WHEREAS, the subject matter of this resolution has been noticed for public hearing as
required by Minn. Stat. § 469.028, Subd. 5; and
the City Council of the City of Elk River deems it advisable to approve the
early acquisition of individual tracts of real property in the vicinity of King
and Main Street;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, as
follows:
Acquisition of individual tracts of real property within the vicinity of
King and Main Street by the Elk River Housing and Redevelopment
Authority will contribute to the elimination of blight or deterioration
within that area of the City;
There is a feasible method for relocation of individuals, if any, to be
displac~l by the proposed acquisition; and
The a,'quisition of individual tracts of teal property in the vicinity of
King and Main Street depict~ on Attachment A is hereby authorized
and approved by the City of Elk River prior to the approval of a
redevelopment plan and project.
The City Council finds and hereby determines that the acquisition and
disposal of the said property ha~ no relationship to the City's
comprehensive plan.
This resolution is adopted this 17th day of June, 1996,
