Action Requested
The City Council is requested to approve a purchase of a four post truck lift system and two
support stands from Sterol-Koni USA, Inc.
Background/Discussion
After on-site demos of four different systems and discussions with owners/operators of three
others, the fleet mechanics feel that the lifts manufactured by Sterol-Koni will best serve the city
shop's needs for many years to come. The Sterol-Koni equipment is on the Minnesota state bid.
Financial Impact
The Equipment Services General Fund Budget contains $30,000 in Capital Outlay funding for a
hoist system. The base price for a four post lift system is $30,900. To that, we add the single
phase power option for $1,020, two support stands at $1,822, and sales tax of $2,192.50 for a total
of $35,934.50.
The street division has $20,970 that was generated from the sale of surplus equipment in 2008,
and the balance could be funded with prior year's sale of surplus equipment thus saving the
general fund $30,000 >n 2008. This financing scenario has been discussed with Terry Maurer,
Public Works Director and Tim Simon, Finance Director and they both concur with this
recommendation.

Superior engineering
The ST 1082 hydraulic mobile column
lift has a lifting capacity of 18,000 Ibs
