HANDOUT 01-13-2003January 7, 2003
To Elk River City Council and Administrative Staff:
We would like to request that the Elk River City Council provide an opportunity for
public discussion, at a future meeting, and enact a policy change in regards to the
removal of trees within 10 feet of the road in regions they have classified as rural.
The reason the policy has come to our attention is the city staffhas marked many trees in
our neighborhood for removal. Many of these trees are over 30 years old and are located
along roads, with many human dwellings, where the traffic should not exceed 30 miles
per hour. We consider the trees to be an amenity to our neighborhood worth thousands of
dollars and an environmental asset to our community.
Sincerely Yours,
Residents For Trees
