Authorization to Purchase Noise Level Dosimeter
The last couple of years, the police department has been receiving an increasing amount of
noise complaints in residential neighborhoods. Unfortunately, we do not have the necessary
equipment to measure noise levels.
As a result of an ongoing neighborhood dispute about noise issues, I feel we need to
purchase a device capable of measuring noise levels. This device, if approved, could be
utilized by the Building and Zoning Department for noise issues, as well.
I am recommending that the city council, with contingency funds, purchase a Casella (CEL
products) moel 460/K1 noise meter in the amount of $2,600.00 (two thousand, six hundred
dollars). This device would provide us with the necessary documentation for evidence in
court.
