Michele will send out a new copy with a cover letter to everyone. Each board/council
will review and bring back next month.

Lori provided reports indicating that we do not show a deficit at this time. Lori will call
Sandy Booth at the District office and continue looking into this matter.

Community Recreation Deficit from 1991-1999
We are continuing to look into this. We still believe there is not a deficit and the issue will require a lot
more time to verify information. Lori Johnson has been working with Sandy Booth at the District office
on this.
Summer Programming
We have completed our summer planning and the brochure went to the printer on April 6th. I have
enclosed a copy of our pages for you to look at. We have added some additional theme day events as
well as adding the Wiggles and Giggles program in Rogers that was a big hit last year in Elk River. We
have also added a program call WOW! (Wonderful Outdoor World) at Woodland Trails Park which is in
cooperation with the Boys and Girls Club. They have an environmentalist who will be working with the
participants at the park. The brochure will be delivered with the April 25th local paper. Our website is
in the process of being updated and will be complete before the brochure is delivered.
We have received bids back on our summer shin order and are reviewing them now. A decision will be
made by April l0th. Our shin order is for approximately 1500 shins.
We will begin looking at staff needs over the next month and are currently accepting applications for
summer employment. I believe we will need to hire a few people but we also have returning employees
who will be working many of the available hours.

Community Recreation
Community Recreation offers recreational programming, support and input to the park and recreation
commissions, support services to the youth associations, as well as other related services. We are a municipally
funded organization, serving the cities of Elk River, Otsego, Rogers and the township of Hassan. These
municipalities, along with ISD 728, have entered into a Joint Powers Agreement aimed at delivering recreational
opportunities to their residents.

· Immediately for all Community Recreation activities. Registration for some programs have been ongoing.

· To register, please complete a registration form, one per each participant, for the desired activities.
· More forms can be obtained by copying the page, stopping by our office, or by accessing our website.
· If mailing, dropping off or faxing in your registration, it is best to fill out a different registration form for each
organization and mail or drop them off at the correct address or fax number listed on the back of this brochure.
Are you a member?
Residents of Elk River, Otsego, Rogers and
Hassan Township qualify as members. You
must reside within the city limits to be a
member. If the community you reside in is
not currently a member of the Joint Powers
Agreement, the Community Recreation
Board and staff encourage you to inform your
city council or township board of your
interest in the program and ask them to
consider membership.

Elk River Track Club is a 4-$ week
program for Elk River area youth who
are interested in an introduction to
competitive Track & Field. Athletes
will work with high school coaches and
former Elk River Track athletes twice a
week. There are a variety of meets
available for athletes to compete in.
Parents will be responsible for
transportation to meets.

held on June 4th at 6pm at the High
School Track.

This is an instructional program designed
to provide the basic skills needed to play
tennis. Participants will learn forehand,
backhand, volley and serve. We'll also
have off-court sessions in conditioning
rules, how to keep score and more.

pole climbing. After the day of family
fun, the night sky will explode with the

"Explore Day Camp" is for children

The Elk River High School Boys'
Varsity basketball staff will be offering
summer basketball camps. These
camps will be designed to improve the
fundamental skills of all players who
attend. The 9th grade camp is intended
to help prepare players for the high

30 players, so it is important to sign up

Class Sizes
· Classes for 18-36 months are always
parent/caregiver and child together
with a limit of 15 pair (one child per
lap) unless otherwise noted
· Classes for 3-5 year olds are limited
to 25 participants unless otherwise
noted
· Classes for 6-12 year olds are limited
to 35 unless otherwise noted

at the Elk River Public Library. They're
making' tracks to join our fun-filled
reading program, 'Wolfin' Down Books at
your library. It's a summer of exciting
prizes, programs and of course the tastiest
books. So get to the library and start wolfin'
