Subject: city council
To whom it may concern:
My name is Tim Benson, I've lived in Elk river for 30 years, I've seen the changes (and change is good) but one thing
that bothers me is the cutting of all the tree's. The thousands cut to build Menards and the ones cut for Target.
Everywhere there is a tree that can be cut that's where buildings will be built. Something needs to be done to try and save
some of these area's, and I'm not saying not to cut any tree's I understand that some have to, but to wipe out an entire
forest is crazy. We are teaching the children in school that recycling and reuse is a benefit to us all for the future
generations, but we have a city council that is not looking at the wide picture of our future. Elk River is growing very fast
and I feel that special consideration needs to be taken when permits are requested, where will this put us in 5 or 10 years,
what needs to be sacrificed for this particular project .... and so on. I am just an ordinary guy with ordinary friends
and this is a hot topic to the community, we cannot possibly be the only people worried by this. There are plenty of open
fields being used to put up housing devopements, why not expand the businesses to these areas, and leave the wooded
areas to smaller selective cutting for upper income housing developments. There are so many alternatives to destruction,
please return comment to this issue.
